Basecamp Starter Plan
The Starter Plan costs $15 every month for each person using it. It’s good for bigger groups because everyone can use all the tools that Basecamp has. You can add as many people as you want, and there’s no limit. But, there is a limit on how much stuff you can save, like files – you can only save up to 500GB. This plan doesn’t have special help for each person, but it’s still really helpful.
Basecamp Pro Unlimited Plan
The Pro Unlimited Plan is for bigger groups too, especially if they need more space for saving things. It costs $299 every month (or $349 if paid monthly). With this plan, you can save a lot more stuff, up to 5TB! Also, you get special help and can learn how to use Basecamp even better. It’s also safer because you can add an extra layer of security.
So, if you have a big group and need lots of space and special help, the Pro Unlimited Plan is a good choice. If you just need the basics, the Starter Plan is great. Basecamp plans make it easier for different groups to work together and get things done. Get Started with Basecamp now
Basecamp Core Feature Ratings
Ease of Use
Basecamp’s design is nice. The menu at the top stays when you move, and the cards in projects are clear and show a lot of information. You can move around Basecamp quickly, but it’s a bit sad that some things are hidden in special menus. Basecamp also lets you make and keep project templates. These templates help you by having messages, todos, and files that you use a lot. Talking to others is easy because there are tools for different things. It’s like talking in different places that make sense.
Task Management & Workflow Tools
Basecamp provides tools for task management, but they are basic and limited. When using Basecamp, you start by creating a project and see a board with different cards: to-dos, documents, messages, and more.
- You can create projects for a company, teams, or individuals. You can also make project templates for future use.
- You add tasks to your to-do list, which is user-friendly, allowing you to assign tasks, set due dates, and attach files.
- When you finish any task on basecamp your schedule is automatically updated.
Time Tracking & Reporting Tools
Regrettably, Basecamp doesn’t have advanced reporting or its own time tracking tools. When it comes to reports, you’re limited to the activities page in your project. There, you can see recent activity, a team member’s actions, to-dos added and finished, overdue tasks, and upcoming dates.
Basecamp also offers a timer for real-time time tracking as you work on tasks. You can manually enter time too. It’s important to review and organize your time entries, categorizing them properly. Setting clear goals before tracking time is essential. Basecamp’s time tracking tools help you monitor billable hours and project costs effectively.
Role Assignment Features
Basecamp comes with Role Assignment Features that help assign tasks and responsibilities to different people in a team. With these features, you can decide who does what in a project. For example, you can say that one person is in charge of designing, while another is responsible for writing. This helps everyone know their jobs and keeps things organized. Basecamp makes it easy to set up roles and tasks, ensuring everyone knows their part in the project.
Collaboration Tools
Basecamp is really good for working together and talking to each other. You can chat with your whole team or just one person. You can even work with people who are not in your team, like clients. Clients can join in as guests, get tasks, and talk with your team. This makes sure everyone knows what’s happening and you don’t have to send too many emails. Basecamp is great for working as a team and keeping everyone in the loop.
Automation and Integrations
Basecamp can work together with many other tools. For example, it can connect with Adobe’s Creative Cloud, Clockify, Salesforce, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Zoom, and more. This is great because by itself, Basecamp’s features are a bit simple. It can link with lots of different tools, and you can also use something called Zapier to help them work together even better. This way, Basecamp can do even more and be more helpful for you and your team.
OVERALL RATINGS
Basecamp is a teamwork tool that helps manage projects, tasks, and communication, making collaboration easier for teams of all sizes.
Basecamp Customer Support
Basecamp’s customer help is good, but it could be better. They don’t have phone or live chat support. But, they have quick ticket help. People who use the Pro Unlimited plan get special fast help all the time, and they can also get a tour to learn how to use Basecamp better.
Don’t be stressed about getting help. Even if the fastest help is for Pro Unlimited users, we got quick answers when we asked questions. If you need help, you’ll likely get an answer in less than 24 hours.
Basecamp Security and Privacy
Basecamp’s computer safety is really strong. They put your data on safe servers from Amazon Web Services and make sure it’s kept private. They use special codes to protect your information when you upload it. Basecamp also uses things like TLS and SSL to keep your stuff safe.
On the computer side, safety is good but could be better. People in charge can make everyone use two-step logins, which is good. But, Basecamp doesn’t work with special logins or SAML, which other tools have. This is something they can do better.
It’s good to know that Basecamp cares about your privacy. They only gather what they really need and don’t sell your info to others. Basecamp follows important rules like GDPR and CCPA too. After checking Basecamp’s safety and privacy rules, we think your data is in good hands. It would be even better if they added special logins, though. It’s always good to be extra safe with your info.
Weak & Missing Features
In Basecamp, there are some things missing. You won’t see tables or a special chart called a Gantt chart. And, it doesn’t easily work with tasks that depend on each other or work in short timeframes called sprints. There is a card table called a kanban board and a calendar, but they’re not perfect.
The kanban board isn’t ready to use right away, which is okay. It’s easy to add cards and columns, and it’s simple to use them.
But, the board and your to-do list don’t talk to each other well. Your schedule does update with the tasks from the board, but it can be confusing. Other tools might work better for Kanban.
Basecamp isn’t made mainly for tasks, and that’s clear. But if you don’t have super complicated tasks and need help with lots of projects and writing down tasks, the to-do list, board, and schedule could be okay. It’s a bit annoying that everything doesn’t fit together perfectly, though.
My Verdict on Basecamp: Do I Recommend It?
Basecamp might not have all the fancy tools, but it’s great if you want simple tasks and talking to your team. If you have a big team and want easy tasks and talking with others, Basecamp is perfect. But if your work is really big and complicated, or you use Agile ways, Basecamp might not be the best. There are other tools for that.
